Celery, Cucumber, Carrot and Ginger Juice
My juicer has made a reappearance in my kitchen in recent weeks. In December, I suffered with a horrible chest infection and it sparked a once-a-week ritual that see’s me juice a few fresh ingredients to keep my body functioning optimally.
Below are some fun facts of the vegetables and roots I have used in this drink:
Carrots - It’s really good for bowel health. It’s very high in Vitamin A and K. A, for vision, immune, and reproduction. K for blood clotting and bone metabolism.
Cucumber - Cucumber peel is a good source of fiber and it has a mild diuretic property. It’s also a wonderful electrolyte and contains potassium. This counters the effect of sodium and regulates blood pressure. There is also a significant amount of Vitamin K in cucumbers.
Celery - There’s a lot of dietary fiber in celery. It can help curb cravings because it makes you feel full for longer. Celery also has anti-inflammatory properties and can prevent inflammation in the digestive tract. It also has Vitamin C and is a good source of antioxidants.
Ginger - Ginger reduces muscle pain and nausea. It’s also an anti-inflammatory piece of gold. It can aid osteoarthritis sufferers and it treats chronic indigestion.
Turmeric - Turmeric is not just a spice, it has medicinal properties. Curcumin in the turmeric root has been found to prevent cancer. Curcumin is also beneficial against heart disease, depression, arthritis, ageing and Alzheimer’s. It is an anti-inflammatory silver bullet.
