Stewed Apple In Maple Syrup
When the days start to get cooler and winter looms I’m all for a good dessert that’s got a lot of sugar and spice.
My mother used to make stewed apple for me and my siblings when we were younger and she served it up with dollops of custard or cream. I have used plain yogurt to get some added protein into this snack.
Ingredients
2 red apples cored and cubed
2 tbsp water
2 tbsp maple syrup
handful of cranberries
Method
In a heavy-based pot heat maple syrup and water.
Add apples and cranberries and spice with cinnamon.
Let the mixture simmer on a low heat for 10-15 minutes.
The water should burn off. Add slightly more if too much burns off.
The apples are ready once it is soft.
Serve with a dollop of Greek yogurt, custard, or cream.
