Honey, Turmeric Face Scrub
Wearing masks during lockdown is a must in my books. Initially I could’t get my hands on one but now I have more than one cloth mask; which makes me so happy.
However, my skin underneath the mask isn’t as happy. I’m often under it for hours at a time because I am an essential worker and I’m required to work my usual shifts. But on my off days I’ve had to nurse patches of fine pimples spread across my chin. And on more than one occasion a very strange zit has appeared. It’s been so frustrating. For the past week I’ve been using this scrub every morning to cleanse and remove the dead skin cells on my face an neck and my skin is really smooth and pimple free.
I’ve also been applying my chickpea masks to help reduce inflammation and redness.
Did you know: Turmeric is like a secret weapon in all my DIY face products. I am not a skincare expert. I am a journalist and writer and I work with facts and not fiction. I do however love to try simple beauty treatments for fun. Turmeric is more than a spice and has anti-acne properties. It helps balance sebum production and clears out pores. It also prevents infections from spreading. Sugar on the other hand is rough, and combined with another anti-inflammatory agent - honey - it makes for the perfect exfoliate.
Ingredients
1 heaped spoonful of raw organic honey
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Juice of 1/2 lemon/lime
Method
Mix everything in a bowl and transfer to a clean jar. You can store this in the shower, next to your face wash and use it each morning for a beautiful fresh glow.
